A summer school for pre-k children, with average or above average intelligence, who as a result of developmental delays, or attention, memory, behavior, emotional, social or communication problems need additional assistance to prepare them for the challenges they will face in Kindergarten.
PRE AND POST ASSESSMENT
Students will learn certain strategies and skills to help ensure a positive experience and attribute to study habits and homework skills, and contribute to overall learning. These skills and strategies will not only help them succeed in Junior High but will provide long-term benefits as they enter High School and College.
MULTIDISCIPLINARY TEAM
Each student will have the services of a team, which includes an early childhood specialist, special education teacher, occupational, speech, and physical therapist, dietician, psychologist, and psychiatrist.
INDIVIDUALIZED INTEGRATED SCHOOL READINESS / TREATMENT PLAN
The team will develop an individualized, integrated school readiness / treatment plan, which will also include physical education, nutrition, creative activities such as art, music and drama, social studies and science.
WORKING MEMORY TRAINING
Research has shown working memory to be a critical skill needed in the learning process and children will complete a special program to strengthen this skill.
PROGRAM DATES: June 1- July 31, 2010 Monday thru Friday
SCHOOL HOURS: 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. - (Lunch provided)
STUDENT RATIO: 1 teacher for every 10 students
